Users in a Group can broadcast tannoy-type messages to other users or Devices.
This differs to the ‘Push-to-Talk’ Feature, which is just one-to-one messaging., Group paging is one to many.
Click on the Group paging settings icon on the Features page.
Click the ‘Add Paging Group’ button.
Type in a name for the Group. This automatically inputs the ‘Paging Group ID’ for you.
Add a calling line ID first and second name – this is what appears on a User’s Device when an incoming cal[DR1] l to the Group is received.
If you want to use this Feature externally, select a number from the drop-down menu. If it’s for internal use, select ‘no number’ and type in the extension.
Click the ‘Continue’ button.
From the drop-down menu, select how long the delay should be before the first target answers and the originator is advised to start speaking. This gives other targets a chance to connect. The default is one second, but it goes up to 20.
To use the originator’s caller ID, rather than the Paging Group’s, tick the box.
You can then add a prefix to the originator’s caller ID, so the targets are aware what type of message it is, e.g. Paging Group.
Hit the ‘Save’ button when you’ve finished.
After creating your Paging Group, you’ll be redirected to that Group’s main page.
There’s a Feature left-hand navigation bar. Initially you’ll be on the ‘Profile’ tab.
Please note, the next time you access the Feature all your Paging Groups will be shown, where you can delete, add, manage and toggle them on/off as required.
This shows the Paging Group’s details and settings. To update any of these, simple select the relevant ‘Manage’ button.
You can choose which Users in your Group are originators – those allowed to send a Tannoy message.
Click the ‘Originators’ tab in the Feature’s left-hand navigation bar.
Click the ‘Manage’ button.
Type a name in the search bar to find the Users that can be originators.
Choose all the relevant Users, or click ‘Select all Users’ if everybody can be an originator.
You can remove Users from the table by clicking the minus symbol next to their ID. Or remove everybody by clicking ‘Remove all Users’.
Hit the ‘Save’ button when you’ve finished.
You’ll be redirected to the originator's page where all originators will be listed. To make any changes, simply hit the ‘Manage’ button.
You can choose which Users are targets in this Group – those that can only receive a Tannoy message sent by an originator. The maximum number is 100.
Click the ‘Targets’ tab in the Feature’s left-hand navigation bar.
Click the ‘Manage’ button.
Type a name in the search bar to find the Users that are targets.
Choose all the relevant Users, or click ‘Select all Users’ if everybody is a target.
You can remove Users from the table by clicking the minus symbol next to their ID. Or remove everybody by clicking ‘Remove all Users’. [DR3]
Hit the ‘Save’ button when you’ve finished.
You’ll be redirected to the targets page where all targets will be listed. To make any changes, simple hit the ‘Manage’ button.
The originator dials the Paging Group’s extension or telephone number.
The Paging Group attempts to deliver the call to all targets. During this, ring back is played to the originator.
A ‘Paging’ announcement is played to the targets. Target Devices that do not have the ability to auto-answer can be answered manually. Calls to targets that remain unanswered after the confirmation tone timeout expires are cancelled.
After all the targets answer or the configurable timeout expires, ring back stops and a ‘Paging System Ready’ announcement is played to the originator.
The originator can then talk, while the targets are muted.
A target can answer another call and they simply get dropped from the conference.
The announcement ends when the originator terminates it, all targets are released or all targets reject the announcement.
The same process applies for an Application as an IP Phone.
A User can be both an originator and a target in the same Paging Group. A User can also be an originator in multiple Paging Groups.
A Paging Group will always request the target Devices to auto-answer the Tannoy message. To do this, the handset must be able to interpret the supportAnswerAfter SIP parameter. Although targets can answer the page manually.
