Applying Credits to a Device

RMS Platform

Applies to: Any device managed in RMS.

What this is

An RMS credit is a paid-for allowance, purchased from Jola, that enables one device to be fully managed within RMS. Each device that requires full management (rather than simply being imported) uses one credit from the company's own balance to activate its "device service". A newly imported device can run on a trial credit for a limited period, but ongoing management requires a purchased credit to be applied. Credits are sold to each customer directly and are not drawn from any shared pool.

RMS Administration → Companies, showing the Credits column (Teltonika RMS documentation).

Steps

1. Check the credit balance for the relevant company under RMS Administration → Companies.

2. If the balance is running low or has run out, place an order for more credits or contact the account manager.

3. From the Devices page, select the device that needs a credit applied, then use the Actions dropdown menu → Devices → Manage Services.

4. In the Manage Services panel, switch Service to On for the device. This uses one credit from the company's balance and switches the device from trial or unmanaged to fully active.

5. Confirm the device's Service column now shows as On, and that Service expires at shows a date.

Good to know

One RMS credit converts to 2GB of shared company data, or 30 days of device management, whichever is reached first. This is separate from any SIM data allowance the customer has through Jola's own tariffs, and the two should not be confused when troubleshooting connectivity issues.

The same Manage Services screen has two further toggles alongside Service: Monitoring, which controls whether RMS actively tracks the device's status, and Auto extend, which automatically renews the service using a new credit when the current one expires, provided credits are available.

A company can only be deleted once it has no devices assigned. This is useful to know when reorganising reseller structures.
