IMEI Locking allows a SIM to be locked to a specific device to prevent SIM misuse or theft.
If IMEI locking is enabled, when Mobile Manger detects an IMEI change the SIM will be barred.
IMEI Locking is currently available for:
• MultiNet SIMs
• RoamNet 901 SIMs
• EE and EE Big Data SIMs
N.B. we cannot guarantee that IMEI locking will work outside of the UK. IMEI information is not mandatory information that all networks provide. If no IMEI is provided by the Network, no change event can be triggered and so Mobile Manager will not bar the SIM.
Enabling IMEI Locking on Live SIMs
IMEI locking can be enabled for live Multinet, RoamNet 901 and EE SIMs via the Orders Tab on the SIM Dashboard:

Once IMEI Locking has been enabled, Mobile Manager will detect the IMEI of the device the SIM was last used in and the SIM will then be locked to this device. The IMEI will be displayed against the SIM on the SIM Dashboard (see below)
If the SIM is then moved into another device a Bar order will be raised against the SIM preventing any further usage until the bar is lifted.
N.B. the IMEI Locking Bar order is subject to regular bar lead times and may not complete immediately, some data usage may occur before the SIM is barred.
Enabling IMEI Locking on Activation
Currently only available on RoamNet 901 SIMs.
IMEI Locking can be enabled as part of the Activation Order flow. To enable IMEI Locking on Activation, process an activation order as normal and press Create Order. On the Order Confirmation page tick ‘Enable IMEI Locking’.

After the SIM has activated it will display as locking to the next seen IMEI (see screenshot below), once the SIM is used in a device for the 1st time the IMEI lock will be updated to that device’s IMEI.

Unbarring After the IMEI Lock is Triggered
After the IMEI Locking Bar is triggered, an Unbar Order can be placed on the Orders Tab on the SIM Dashboard.
The Unbar Order will have two options.
1. Unbar and keep existing IMEI Lock should be selected if you wish to continue locking the SIM to the original device. The SIM will be unbarred and the lock will remain set as the existing IMEI.
N.B. If this unbar option is selected while the SIM is not in the original device, the IMEI Locking Bar will not trigger again unless the SIM is used in another (i.e. 3rd)device. This means that the SIM could use data in the 2nd device while showing as locked to the original device on Mobile Manager. We advise that the SIM is moved back into the original device before unbarring with this option. The tool tip in Mobile Manager next to
this option explains this.

2. Unbar and update to last seen IMEI should be selected if you wish to continue using the SIM in the new device. The SIM will be unbarred and the lock will be updated to the IMEI of the new device.
N.B. If the SIM has been used in multiple devices after the IMEI Locking Bar has been triggered Mobile Manager sets the last seen IMEI to the first device used. The lock will therefore be set to this IMEI. The tool tip in Mobile Manager next to this option explains this.
Disabling IMEI Locking
If you wish to disable IMEI Locking (this is recommended if testing in another device is required) this can be done via the Orders Tab on the SIM Dashboard. This will clear any IMEI set on the SIM and allows the SIM to be used freely between devices again.
