Data Pools Information

If you have any questions about pools, please contact your account manager.

Data pools can be set up by resellers and sized either by combining the allowances of all the SIMs in the pool or by setting the size of the pool at the end of each month, for the following month. Their purpose is to allow the reseller more control over margins and wastage and to build more flexible solutions for their customers. In all cases the pool expires at the end of the month and any data remaining in the pool is lost.

Fixed Pool (Available on all networks)

A Fixed Pool is a network-specific pool of a fixed size, that can be associated with a customer, or multiple customers. If you have a customer requiring a Fixed Pool on more than one network, e.g. Vodafone and O2, pool you would need to create two customers in Mobile Manager, one for the Vodafone SIMs and another for the O2 SIMs. Once a Fixed Pool is set up and associated with a customer or customers, SIMs in the pool will only use data from the Fixed Pool, once the SIM has exhausted its own allowance and any per-SIM bolt-on allowance.

Aggregated Pool (Available on EE M2M, EE Fixed IP, Vodafone Fixed IP & MultiNet)

An Aggregated Pool is a network specific pool with a size equal to the allowances of all the SIMs that are in that pool. An Aggregated Pool can be associated with a customer or multiple customers. A customer can only be associated with one Aggregated Pool. For example, if you have one customer that needs both an EE M2M and MultiNet pool you would need to create two customers in Mobile Manager, one for the EE M2M SIMs and one for the MultiNet. Any SIM that exceeds its individual allowance will draw from the total allowance in the pool. You cannot use per-SIM bolt-ons with an Aggregated Pool.

Buffer Pool

A Buffer Pool is a network specific pool of a fixed size that is associated with all Reseller’s SIMs connected to that network. Any SIM that has exhausted its own allowance, its own bolt-on allowance and any Fixed or Aggregated Pool allowance will be able to draw from the Buffer Pool. The Buffer Pool is the last line of defence available before any over-usage is billed at the overage rate.

Bucket Pool

A Data Bucket is a pool of data which expires when the data is fully consumed or when it reaches its’ 12-month expiry date – whichever happens first. Data Buckets are network-specific pools of a fixed size and can be associated with a customer or multiple customers. Data Buckets can only be used with Sharer SIMs that have no per-SIM allowance. Per-SIM bolt-ons are not compatible.

Data Buckets are available for EE M2M, EE Fixed IP, Vodafone Fixed IP and Multi-network SIMs. You need a separate bucket for each product type. When all of the data allowance is used, all SIMs associated with the bucket will expire, however you can renew the bucket after expiry.

Pool Rules

  1. New pools or changes to pools must be ordered by the penultimate working day of the month to be available from the 1st of the following month.
  2. Fixed and Aggregated Pools need to be assigned to a customer or customers before any SIMs will be associated to the pool.
  3. Once a customer is associated with a Fixed or Aggregated Pool, default alerts are disabled, and the reseller is responsible for setting up any customer-specific alerts required.
