It allows you to make and receive calls using your primary number, usually your desk phone, but to/from any Device such as a mobile phone. This gives you a level of privacy and the people you call are more likely to recognise the business number and answer the call.
You can also use this Feature to move calls between your Devices.
Click on the Call Director settings icon on the Features page.
Tick/untick the box depending if you’d like to make all locations ring at the same time when an outbound Click-To-Dial call is made. For example, if you click on a phone number in one of our apps, it will also dial any other devise you have so you can pick that up to carry on the call.
Click the ‘Add Call Director location’ button
Type in a description for your Call Director location, such as ‘My Mobile’, followed by the number.
Tick the box if you’d like unanswered calls to this number to go to your business voicemail on this service, rather than the voicemail for this number, which might be your mobile servicer providers voicemail.
Hit the ‘Save’ button once you’ve finished.
After creating your Call Director location, you’ll be redirected to the main page where all your locations will be listed.
Click the settings icon to update your location’s details if required and create incoming call rules for it.
The details of the location will be displayed, which you can update at any point by clicking the ‘Manage’ button.
You can also create incoming call rules for this location. Click the ‘Manage’ button in the ‘Location rules’ box.
Type in a name for your rule.
Then select a Time Schedule from the drop-down menu. The default one is ‘All day, every day’, but you can create your own Schedule by clicking ‘Add Time Schedule’. You can find out more about this by reading the ‘Schedule’ Feature article.
Click ‘Continue’.
Choose if you’d like to accept calls from ‘All phone numbers’ or ‘Selected’ ones during the Schedule you created.
If ‘Selected phone numbers’, you can add up to 12.
To include calls from ‘Private’ and/or ‘Unknown’ numbers, tick the box.
Hit the ‘Save’ button once you’ve finished.
After creating a rule it will appear in the ‘Location rules’ box. You can delete and edit the rule, as well as add new ones by clicking the ‘Manage’ button.
These are set up by your Administrator and allow you to make outgoing calls from any Call Director location you set up, and to move calls between locations.
If you hear an error message when dialling a Portal, your Administrator has turned it off.
Here are some examples of how this can be used:
This setting will only work correctly if an administator has set-up a Call Director Portal and provided you with the telephone number..
