Busy lamp field (BLF) - JolaPhone

How this Feature will help you

You can visually monitor the call status of up to 50 Users on your Device and a Sidecar attachment if you have one. You will know instantly if they are busy or idle simply by looking at the colour of the LED next to their name. This feature is really useful to call handlers and receptionists.

How to set up and use this feature

If you’re using a Device with ‘VDM’ in its model title, we recommend you set the Busy Lamp Field Feature up via the Device’s configuration page where you can use the ‘Device Keys’ tab. This will allow you to choose exactly where you want to locate each monitored User, whereas the method described below will place the Users on the next available key.

To set it up on the Business Portal, click on the Busy Lamp Field settings icon on the Features page.

Click the ‘Add Users’ button.

Manage Busy Lamp Field Users

Use the search bar to select the Users you want to monitor.

You can also ‘Add all Users’ at the same time.

After you’ve selected your Users, you can arrange their order with the up and down arrows. This determines the order they appear on your Device on the available keys.

There’s also an option to ‘Remove all Users’ should you need to.

Hit the ‘Save’ button when you’ve finished.

How to set up and use this Feature – on an IP Phone

Once set up, you can monitor the status of Users by checking the LED light next to the User's name on your IP Phone:

  • Green = available.
  • Red (blinking) = somebody is ringing them.
  • Red = on a call or unavailable.
  • Orange = error reading the status.

Additional information

Setting this up from the Business Portal is a quick, simple way to push all the Users you want to monitor onto your Device in the order you chose based on what keys are available.

If you want to decide exactly where they go on your Device, and it has the term ‘VDM’ in its model name, you can manage this from the Device’s configuration page.
