It’s great for businesses that operate in different geographical locations, but want the ease of answering one central, primary number.
You can provide your User with up to 10 other numbers (11 in total) with a range of area codes, so it appears to customers they are based locally, but all the calls are redirected to their main line.
As an Administrator, you can manage this Feature, but Users can’t.
Click on the Alternate Numbers settings icon on the Features page.
Then click ‘Add number’.
Choose an ‘Alternate Number’ from the pre-populated list of ‘Directory Numbers’ that your Service Provider has ordered for you. If you run out, please contact them so they can provide more.
Add an extension number if required.
Incoming calls to your Users’ primary number have a ‘normal’ ring pattern. To make managing calls easier, there are three extra ring patterns that can be assigned to your other numbers:
Select the ring pattern for this chosen number and hit ‘Save’. It’s worth testing and listening to the different ring patterns once you’ve done this.
You can add up to 10 ‘Alternate Numbers’ and easily edit their list at any time.
The call line identity of all the outgoing calls your User makes will be their primary phone number, unless you use the Group Calling Line ID Site feature to change this.
Alternate Numbers will not appear when using number search or appear on the Numbers page.
